MARCH Friday 6th 2026
11:00 – 11:45 Seven Deadly Virtues of ELT – Rethinking what we think works
For forty years, ELT has celebrated certain practices as signs of “good” teaching. But what if some of these virtues aren’t so virtuous after all? In this workshop, I’ll uncover seven cherished habits of ELT that I believe may have caused more harm than good—to teachers and learners alike. Expect some myth-busting and a few provocative ideas that might just change the way you see Monday morning’s lesson.
Duncan Foord, Oxford TEFL Director, teacher trainer and author
BREAK – Enjoy drinks and snacks in our sunny garden
12.15 – 13.00 Save time, Teach Smarter: habits that transform lessons
Discover tools and strategies to optimize your daily work. This workshop will teach you how to work smarter so you can focus on what truly matters: improving your teaching or growing your path as a teacherpreneur.
Martina Monreal, SmartCookie Co-Founder
MARCH Friday 13th 2026
11:00 – 11:45 Low-Prep Tasks and Activities to Have Up Your Sleeve
Do you ever have to step in to cover a colleague at the last minute? Are you sometimes worried about going through all your prepared material and being left with extra time on your hands? In this workshop, we will share a range of activities that require little-to-no preparation and can be easily adapted to different levels and learner profiles.
Rubens Heredia, Oxford TEFL tutor
BREAK – Enjoy drinks and snacks in our sunny garden
12.15 – 13.00 From students to exam writers: Keep teens progressing (and awake!)
It’s easy to slip into the habit of sandwiching an exam practice exercise like “a listening” or “a use of English” between communicative, “fun” activities to keep our teens from “checking out”. In this workshop, we’ll explore how training students to create their own exam tasks can make passive, dry exam skills training into an active part of our lessons: boosting language production, deepening the students’ understanding of the exam, and ensuring they stay engaged throughout.
Alice Copello, Oxford House teacher
MARCH Friday 20th 2026
11:00 – 11:45 Little Why your speaking activities aren’t working – and what to do instead
Many speaking tasks fail not because of student ability, but because of how they’re set up and followed up. In this practical workshop, teachers will learn a simple way to upgrade speaking activities so learners improve performance, not just participation.
Barney Griffiths, Teacher Trainer and BGLC Director
BREAK – Enjoy drinks and snacks in our sunny garden
12.15 – 13.00 Playing with Purpose: Managing Movement and Games in the YL Classroom
Keep the energy high without the headache. In this workshop we will explore ideas for fun, productive games that get students moving, and strategies for how to keep things under control. By the end of this workshop, you will feel confident (and excited) about trying them out in your own young learner lessons.
Joanna Ryan, Kids & Teens Coordinator
We look forward to bringing the ELT community of Barcelona together again this March.
