The exact activity will depend on time of year and availability. Example activities include guided walking tours, language exchanges in our garden, and local cultural classes.

How will I be able to work in Barcelona as a TEFL teacher if I am a non-EU citizen?

As a participant of the 1 Year in Spain (Ultimate Package), you will most likely be studying with us on a long-term student visa. On this visa, some schools are willing to hire you by doing one of the following:

  1. Sponsoring your Work Authorisation (once you have been offered a job with them)

This means they fill out a request with Spanish immigration to allow you to work up to 30 hours per week while you study. Oxford TEFL provides a guide and support to our partner schools in Barcelona so that it’s as easy as possible for them to hire our graduates.

2. Hiring you on a Convenio de Prácticas contract (Internship Agreement)

Many schools we work with prefer this contract as it’s much easier for them to hire our graduates fast, seeing as you don’t need a separate work authorisation. Oxford TEFL provides a guide and support to our partner schools who opt for this contract and many of our graduates who are staying long-term with us in Spain have been hired in this way.

Do you provide support finding work as a TEFL teacher?

As one of our CELTA graduates, you will be able to take advantage of our comprehensive and lifelong careers service. This includes helping you prepare your CV, putting you in direct contact with schools, helping you prepare for your interview (and more!). Our CELTA graduates are prioritised over other TEFL teachers – a unique opportunity for you to get a top TEFL teaching position with the best conditions!

How can I enrol in the 1 Year in Spain (Ultimate Package)
  • Step 1: Apply here. You can select your level of Spanish on the form.
  • Step 2: Complete the CELTA pre-interview task. This is a short talk to find out how much you know about English.
  • Step 3: Attend your online interview with a member of our team. We are looking forward to meeting you!
  • Step 4: If accepted, secure your place on the program with the full payment. We will put you in touch with your personal program coordinator and visa support officer.
  • Step 5: Join us in Barcelona. Once in Barcelona, you will be able to meet your personal program coordinator in-person.
